🌸 Who is Julie?
My name is Julie Solbreux, I am 27 years old (soon 28!), and I am from Ath. My background is anchored in the creative arts, with computer graphics studies in Enghien. Graduating in the middle of Covid, I had to reinvent my professional future. This is how Mimpi was born.
Since I was little, I have always preferred creative arts courses to tennis courses. I grew up helping my father with DIY, which fueled my passion for creating. One day, while scrolling on TikTok, I saw a girl working on a material that I immediately liked. I ordered a small 5 kg kit to make personal creations and keep myself busy. And that’s where it all started.
✨ The Passion of Creation
Creating candles is a true passion for me. When I was little, I received a box to create my own candles, and since then, the desire to do everything myself has never left me. My inspiration comes from everywhere. For example, while watching Taylor Swift’s concert on Disney Plus, her lavender dress inspired me to redo the pot of my purple candle.
The idea for Mimpi came about when my creations began to please those around me. I told myself that if it appealed to those close to me, it could appeal to a larger number of people. Creating the Mimpi logo was a crucial step for me as a graphic designer. Becoming independent allowed me to offer my creations for sale, despite the challenges of the first markets.
🌿 Ecological and Authentic Values
At Mimpi, authenticity and respect for the environment are at the heart of everything I do. My products are made with ecological and safe materials, without harmful products. I use European soy wax, not tested on animals, and my pots are made in Belgium with a water-based acrylic resin. Working with healthy materials is essential for me, both for my own health and that of my clients.
My creative process often begins with the scent, which then inspires the design of the jar. For example, the Fig and Lotus candle is one of my favorites. The perfume directly inspired me a very dark purple pot, almost black, with mauve, white and pink/orange terrazzo, reminiscent of the colors of the fruit itself.
🚀 Ambitions and Dreams for Mimpi
In the short term, my goal is to be able to live fully from my passion. In the long term, I dream of building a solid company with its own premises and a team of collaborators. I would also like to participate in the Maison et Objet show in Paris. In five years, I see myself in my premises, hiring staff to keep up with the growing demand for Mimpi.
The customer experience is essential for me. I want every customer to feel completely satisfied with their purchase. To engage and develop the community around Mimpi, I regularly publish content on social networks, highlighting the products and their manufacturing, and sharing the story of the brand. In the future, I would really like to create workshops so that customers can make their own objects. I also go to markets to meet customers in person, I love it!
